Bring New Orleans Back

Our beloved city endured the worst natural disaster in this country's history. Although we lost a piece of ourselves and many loved ones, we have emerged with our spirit intact. Our pride in New Orleans will last forever.

Everyone who knows America's Most Unique City understands the character that lives in the soul of our people, the creativity that rises from our neutral grounds and the essence that drips from our moss draped oaks to form a canopy of heaven.

Now is the time to form a united front. Together, we will rebuild New Orleans.

Together, we will become stronger and smarter, bringing a diverse group of talent to the table to plan for our future.

Together, we will take the lead on our tremendous rebuilding effort, with help from federal, state and other officials.

Jazz needs you, Creole cooking needs you, and New Orleans needs you now more than ever.

The Education Committee

Mayor Ray Nagin's Bring New Orleans Back Commission created a sub-committee to develop a plan to reform and rebuild the educational system in Orleans Parish. The Education Committee's mission is to create an educational system that distinguishes New Orleans in a positive way, attracting both families and businesses to the city. The Education Committee is committed to developing a plan for a school system that will serve as a model for schools in the 21st century.

The Cultural Committee

Mayor Ray Nagin's Bring New Orleans Back Commission created a sub-committee to develop a plan to repair and rebuild the cultural fabric of New Orleans. The Cultural Sub-Committees objective is to establish a sustainable economic environment for the local creative industries by preserving in perpetuity the heritage and vitality that creates our unique cultural fiber. Further, our objective is to promote at a grander scale the culture that has been in place for generations while simultaneously creating a new concept that will compliment and enhance our City.

Our Committee is compiling information that will be presented to Congress in hopes of acquiring their assistance in rebuilding the cultural fabric of New Orleans. However, we cannot accomplish this task without your help. We ask that you please take a moment to complete our survey by Saturday, November 26, 2005. We are attempting to quantify the impact Hurricane Katrina had on our cultural community. Please be assured that the information you provide will be kept confidential and used for the sole purpose of the is Committee and providing the final analysis to Congress.

The Technology Subcommittee

The Technology Subcommittee is part of the Economic Development Committee of the Mayor's "Bring New Orleans Back Commission." The mission of the Technology Subcommittee is to assure an open, inclusive and vibrant business community that will create livable wage and higher salaried jobs to our qualified citizens.

The Government Effectiveness

The Government Effectiveness task is to suggest possible changes in local government structure and function that would insure effective responses to the challenges facing our city post-Katrina. We have one important guiding principle: That all proposals should foster government that is ethical, efficient, transparent, and adequately and fairly funded.
